How does compost help the climate?
Composting supports air quality because it cuts down on methane emissions accelerated by food waste decomposition in landfills. Methane is a "super-pollutant" that warms the Earth at an alarming rate—it's more than 25x more effective than CO2 at trapping heat in the atmosphere.
Compost also puts your food waste to use. Often called "black gold", it's an incredible fertilizer you and can use to grow organic veggies or give your landscape a boost.
The benefits don't end there. Composting supports water retention and storm water filtration. It can also reduce the need for chemical fertilizers, which emit a lot of carbon and harm biodiversity.
